Portrait Photography

I start with what is real and essential – the light! Of course, I'm only half joking. The light is a key element in creating a mood, sending a message. And, each person, each location is new and unique.

I definitely like to design the photo shoot to fit your needs. And at the same time instill my own vision into the work. I enjoy meeting and working with people. Collaborating as a team. Looking to every detail of the setting and the subject.

A basic shoot takes 1-2 hours. Plus post production. More complicated shoots take longer and cost more.

"A portrait!

What could be more simple

and more complex,

more obvious and

more profound?"

— Charles Baudelaire, 1859

Commercial Photography

I also very much enjoy product and advertising work. An example is this shot for "The Iris Lariat Collection.” As always, photo shoots are designed to meet the needs of you; your product, and your company.

Artwork Photography

I enjoy working with other artists as well, to create a portfolio of their artwork for their website, or for submission to galleries, competitions, and publication. I'm well versed in photographing both 2- and 3-dimensional work.

Photo Shoot Locations

I listen to both people and the light to find the perfect location for their photo shoot. I do work mainly in the Boulder/Denver area, although I am willing to travel under certain circumstances. I shoot both in my studio and on location. I love working outdoors, where we can blend the natural light with reflectors and strobes, and take advantage of the beautiful backdrops that Colorado offers to us. But, for more controlled conditions, where you might need a seamless background for instance, my studio is always available. And, of course, I am happy to come to your home or business. Whatever fits your needs.
